Internet responsibility:
I found the internet responsibility ideas not particularly new, since I have used internet often with students. Pre-selecting sites speeds the search process and guides students to appropriate sites and avoids sites with material that is perhaps too difficult for students' reading levels, also.
I do think that monitoring student activity is important and using consequences when necessary reinforces expectations.

Project idea:
At this point I am considering allowing students to choose between two project options. I particularly like photo stories and newspaper. Both would have students basically act like journalists and put together information about genocides or holocausts in history and creating either a photo-journal or newspaper account of the impact of these events on the children involved. Both would involve research, summarizing, analyzing information and drawing conclusions and making inferences, as well as stating opinions and supporting opinions with factual information. Because a photo story can have voice-over, it can be scripted, thus requiring writing and editing of a final product. So both options require reading and writing.
